I never changed a pump on a Vette. However, I have changed them on other cars and never needed to bleed the system. Just start the car and keep adding power steering fluid to the resevor. This advice is worth what you paid for it.
Once you install the new pump and attach the hoses, fill the reservoir with fresh fluid. Start the motor and let it idle.
With the front wheels off the ground, turn the steering wheel to full lock one direction and then the other. Do this a few times while refilling the reservoir as necessary.
Check the fluid level every day to make sure that the level is staying at the HOT mark after driving or at the COLD mark before the first drive of the day.
What the cruiser said. Just make sure you fill the reservoir allowing the pump to fill before you start the engine. Check the torque values on the fittings. They are "O" ring sealed and are not very tight. The PS pulley is a press fit, special tool required. make sure the pulley is at the same depth on the new pump shaft as the old one. If it is not your belt may not run true. Please don't ask how I know this.
