Help diagnosing engine knock
I drove my wifes 86 (cast iron heads) today and noticed that when I stepped on the gas hard there was a knocking noise from the engine.
It does not do it unless step on it pretty good.
It sounded like something getting into a fan or something.
I checked and made sure there was nothing that could be getting into anything.
I was able to get it to do it somewhat while in park and it sounded more like it was coming from the top part of the engine but i am not sure.
anyone got any ideas before I take it to the garage?

Good work. All too often folks mistake an exhaust leak for something much more serious. Year or two ago I was chasing down a rap, pulling hair along with looking. Sure I was about to do another rebuild. Went to see my favorite mechanic, pulled into his shop,he walked up and said: "When are you gonna fix that exhaust leak?".
