Default Got PKE to work

OK for all you guys that are having problems I got my new FOB today (car did not come with one) And got it programmed. This is for the guys who do not get the PKE light to flash when you turn the key off.

I followed the instructions but when I turned it off it did not flash. Tried 3 times but no joy. Here is what I did to get it to flash. Push in the key and hold it there when you turn it off mine THEN did flash as long as I pushed it in. I had someone bring the fob into range while I did this and voila. My guess is the pellet is worn or the contacts in the column are. It never was an issue at start up because I naturally push the key in while I do that. Good Luck and report back if it works for you

One additional comment on this I did try programming it without the flashing PKE and it sort of half worked. When I walked away it locked but did not re open. I mention this because of an earlier post that mentioned the same symptom as this.

Hey congrats, now let the PKE fun begin..... In all seriousness, I had to buy one too because the prior owner didn't have it. I luckily had no problems getting it to work. A big investment as a shot in the dark. I do like it for the most part, but it can get annoying cycling the locks when not needed.

You've been messing with that for a while now. How lucky you were to discover that trick. I know in my business when I get keys cut that sometimes they aren't quite right and you have to push them in and pull them out sightly to get them to work. Same here I guess but in reverse. Nice find for the mystical PKE system on our vettes!

Bought both of mine off ebay--$105 used--$130-new--that was 9 months ago roughly--I don't see as many nowadays on ebay as I did then.

Can you confirm the part number as being 88960923? They're listed at $106 plus shipping (about $23) at GMParts direct. I got the part number off the auction site, could not find the part browsing GMParts direct.

Check out the "corvette tax" on this site. FOB for 94 Camaro is $40. FOB for 94 Vette is $160 .

But the craparo is not a PKE (nor is the car a 'Vette)

I see the cost as $105 from my check ($105.90 actually)

It is for "handling" and they are "handling " us for sure That said even with the shipping it is as cheap or cheaper than anywhere else and they are a good source for OEM parts. I don't know if you get a break on multiple parts on the shipping or not. Does anybody know?

craparo....... Still don't see (based on electronics) how there could be such a difference in manufacturing cost. Finally convinced myself to order one last night. Hope I enjoy it as much as I think I will.

What I really need to do is get my door/key/headlight chimes working. Darn near drained my battery (again) at lunch today leaving the running lights on .

That module is not too hard to get too you need to pull the Bezel around the radio and the radio maybe the ac unit. It sits up above the CCM ( I think it is)with a velcro attachment to it. They some times can be repaired but pucker up if you need to buy one if you can find it they ain't cheap. Best shot to get one is from the parts section here from someone who is parting out a car.

Thanks..... On the rare occasion I have to park the car out in the sun/heat of the day it starts working intermittently. When parked out in the shade, never works. So seems it "could" be repairable (loose connection, cold solder, etc.). Can only hope.... I think the FSM has a section on troubleshooting it. I'll read that over tonight....

Default Thanks for the tip

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it tonight and I hope it works. I've been stymied at the flashing PKE step and really didn't want to dive into the electronics and wiring.
