I don't think it will work. Try some aircraft paint stripper then power wash. As long as you don't get it all over everything else including you it should easily come off. Don't really need to power wash since the paint stripper will bubble all the clear coat off. You just need to remove the bubbled clear and stripper off the surface. I've used well used scotch-brite pads but they do scratch the surface a little. I end up polishing them anyway so it doesn't bother me.
