Default Having Some Problems Seeing Your Posts here..

Hey people,
Everytime I see a topic and it has pictures I cant open it..it will keep loading the page and after ten minutes it disconnects m server.

Sometimes It will open in a few minutes.
I just tried again to click on Marks(Mr Magoo) Topic but it cant show me the page.
This is why lately I havent been able to reply-post to many topics and even some of the signatures slow everything down.

I dont think its a forum issue..I admit Im on slow webtv..but I can get on this site easily and surf the net just fine.Everythings opens just fine except for certain topics.
I have a 56K modem but still dont get it.
Whats in the pictures on pages thats taking so long to open?

One of the reasons I didnt get a computer yet was because I thought I would have the same problems if running a phone modem.
I dont even think the area I live in has a cable modem access yet.

Will getting a new computer with alot of power make a difference even if its running a phone line modem?
Would hate to spend a grand or more and find out I still cant look at topics and reply to them when there's pics and etc to look at.
You guys seem to be able to post one after another easily..how are ya doing it?
What MHZ or numbers on a computer with a phone line does one need to have to allow instantaneous page clicking?

Thanks.

as long as your computer is fairly fast (like over 500mhz) AND youre not running alot of programs to use up your RAM then you should be set there. The problem with this site is that is has so many pictures on it and it takes a long time for a computer to load them, which eventually makes it timeout if it cant load them in a certain time. If i'm at home i can barely use the forum with my 56K because of this and "instantaneous page clicking" is really only possible late at night when the phones arent busy in the area or you have to be on a network (which i am now) or have a cable/DSL modem.

Are you using netscape? Don't. It sucks.

Bill's86Coupe---Click on "my profile" Then "user options". I think it is the 5th option. change to "Do Not Show Images When Browsing" . That should speed things up a little.

Thanks guys...
If it helps, this system is based on MSN.com
and to be honest I dont really know what exactly the server is..it was webtv.net for a while then MSN bought it out,so there ya have it.

Btw,I thought about switching off the images but will that keep me from seeing pics?

I mean, alot of posts will sometimes have good pics Id like to see,or if someone makes a change to their car and posts that..I cant see them without waiting 10 minutes sometimes,if Im lucky enough it opens.
Im going to try the switch off option anyway and see if it helps.Anything to let me view posts better will help.
There are times I want to smash this keyboard and throw the webtv box out the window.
:)

Update..I switched off the images and it sped things up a little.I see the idea now, just click on the link instead of seeing a picture on the same page..Thanks for the tip.I still need a real computer though...maybe something with 5,000 MHZ if its available for the price of a new dell.
I wish.

yeah Microsoft servers seem slow all the fricking time, even though you would EXPECT that a computer company would have the fastest servers.

I'm on a dial-up and while I have a few problems once in a while, it's more f my SERVER(AOHELL) than anything else. I hear people complain about pics being to large and such, but I don't mind. Granted, Glock'94(on cable) can read 5 posts to my one, but I'd rather see the pics than not.
