I found a really nice C4 today. It's a 95 with 80,000miles, and the car cruises great, no stumble on acceleration or acting up at all, but it has a slight lope at idle. The lot had just received the car about 3 days before and it still had the previous owners things in it. It obviously had not been cleaned by the lot and the engine compartment was almost spotless. The car was obviously well taken care of, as there was not a squeak nor leak to be found, and it drove out beautifully.
Guess my concern is the idle. Is it normal for C4's to lope a little? My thought is probably new plugs, wires, throttle body and injector cleaning would probably smooth it right out. The car had sat for three days without anyone driving it and it definitely smoothed out after it warmed up.
Any help is appreciated,
Poe
There are alot of good C4's out there right now. You might want to keep looking for lower mileage. I just got mine in September and without even looking hard, found one with 24,000 on it. It runs real smooth at idle. Of
course if the price is nice then you may want to grab it.
Price is 15995, but I offered 14500, and he seemed like that was okay. This guy has alot of inventory on his lot right now, so he is looking to move cars as he has no more room. I will look at it closer tomorrow, and let everyone know the outcome. It is Bright Aqua Metallic with just a couple small scratches and think it has the G92 option as it pulled alot stronger than the 94 rattle trap I drove last night.
Is that price high? I haven't seen anything else in this area under $17500 in decent shape and under 90,000 miles.

my '93 does not lope at all (the 85 does due to the cam) I'd suggest having it looked at by a corvette mechanic. I bought the 85 in IL and paid a lot more for it than it would run here, price is regional so you would know what's fair by the local market. See if you can contact the old owner to find out what's wrong with it!
It might be worth your time to have it checked out by a reputable mechanic or Chevy dealer to see if it's in good running order. I'm not sure how much a service like that costs, but it's a heck of a lot better than spending $14.5K on a mistake.
I agree on having it checked out... thats a fair price for the car.. the idle might be plugs/tune up.. could be the start of opticrap failure which would be an expensive repair. My 95 has a pretty smooth idle...
The best thing for you to do is to make sure you have someone that knows what their doing and have them inspect that problem completely. Hate to see you be married to problem from the beginning, also in 95 they only built 909 Bright Aqua's!
Thanks for all the help. I am definitely going to keep looking as I found a few more things I didn't like today, such as burnt tranny fluid. Think I will try and sell the Neon and then get a C4. At least that way I may get a little money for the little thing.
See ya,

Also, if you're not used to the LT1 motor, it might seem like it has a slight lope/miss at idle... When I bought my first LT1 car new (T/A), I thought there was something wrong with it until the dealer showed me a few other new cars on the lot that ran the same way...
The LT1 does idle a little rough by nature... My MSD ignition box cleaned it up a lot, both on the T/A and the Vette...
But definately get it checked out and ask someone on here with an account to run a carfax for you to help make sure it hasn't been in a major accident... Sounds like a decent car...
