Thinking about tinting my windows(Never done it before). How much does it cost? Is it worth it? Any thing to look for? Also, how do chrome wheels look on a white corvette? Any pictures? Thinking about it, but unsure how it would look.
oh man a white vette and you wanna tint the rear hatch and get chrome rims?? it will look sweet! i got a white vette the rear hatch is tinted and its nice and dark in the day and well during night it sucks when yer backing up and don't got much light behind ya to see stuff. and as for the rims? my buddies got chrome rims on his white 86 and they make the car..... trust me on this...... you get rims on a white vette and it makes your car stand out from the rest but..... only get 5 stars they look the best on a vette i suggest getting chrome zr1 style rims or something else thats 5 stars i am thinking of getting some eagle alloy series 77's they look super nice.
Chrome ZR1's are the way to go for the wheels. I do not like the tinting on the sides because even with the lightest shade it still appears too dark. Why? Because (1) the black interior creates a dark background for the tint, making it appear darker, and (2) the windows already have a slight factory tint, so tinting on top of that makes it darker. The back window would be ok but go with the lightest shade.
I personally would pass on the chrome wheels on my white car... I think silver or black would look better (I'm hoping to go white on mine, pain to keep clean, but looks great)
What timing you have! I had my side windows re-done yesterday with 20%(Medium) there's 20% on the rear glass also. It looks sooo nice! The car definitely looks cooler/meaner with the tint on. See for yourself.
i bought mine with the windows tinted. Very good during the summer if youre ever going to leave your car outside, keeps it alot cooler and keeps the interior (mine is red) from fading. I wish i had some pics to show you.
At night, it can be a nuisance because the hatch kills the brightness of any headlights behind you and you really cant see much out of your rearview mirror. I think that window tinting actually looks the best on a white car. As for the wheels, i'm getting the 5-spoke ZR-1 rims sooner or later, I dont really like the rims i have now (curb dents and scratches) and they dont shine like chrome or polished. Plus i want the 17" rims so i can get my brakes upgraded to 13".
This is just my opinion, but you HAVE to have tint on your windows. The car just dosen't look complete without it. Prices very, but in Orlando you can get the whole thing done with a one piece hatch for around $100. And like thoughs before me that posted said, your rear-view mirror wil be pretty much useless afterwards.
As far as chome gos, polished and chorme look good to me, its more along the lines of what you like.
I have a black car with chrome grand sport wheels the difference between the gs & ZR1 is with the 11 inch wide wheel it don't stick out like the ZR1 wheel will. I also have the tint on all the windows it is a matter of personal taste but I wouldn't be with out it. :seeya
In the south, tinting is probably the way to go, but it does reduce the effectiveness of Radar units of which "metallic tints" are the worst kind for detectors......just a thought....
Black GS wheels would look great on a White Vette also, I'm sure one will post.........no mention of what year your car is, but wheels are 17x9.5x56 front and 17x11x50 rear if you want to run 275/285 front and 315's on rear......Good luck with the mods :yesnod:
From: Los Angeles, CA.... I know a guy who has a Lambo with Corvette doors
Re: Chrome wheels, tinted windows? (GCadby)
Here's white, tinted, & polished wheels, I did have the stock chromes on before the TT II's. I think it looked great either way. The tint was on the car when I bought it, so I don't know what that would cost, but I'm guessing a good job would be about $200(cause the back hatch is a big pane). BTW, my car is for sale, see C4's for sale section for info.
