If everything works out, I will be picking up my new Comp Yellow LT4! The owner has a set of MT ET Streets with GS wheels that he is willing to sell at a reasonable price.
These are the DOT legal tires and I'm debating purchasing them. Are they usable on the street? How long will they actually last?
I've never owned a set and am just curious. If they are usable, then I might pick them up with the car.
yes you can run them on the street. but i wouldnt drive on them everyday, get another pair of rims and mount them on that. i have used et streets before. i mounted them on a spare set of rims and put them on when i was going to the track, drove out to the track with em on raced with them and drove home then took them off. i have since upgraded to full slicks, and i change them at the track works much better.
Thanks. The car comes with 4 GS wheels that have regular street tires and the MT's are on an extra set.
Are they worth paying for if I never use the car on the track?
No. They are made of very soft compound, which is why they work so well at the track. I have read that in normal use, they will wear out in about 5,000 miles. I will drive mine to the track if there is NO chance of rain, but otherwise, I'll throw them in the back and change at the track.
