Default Door Ajar Light on!!!!!!

After my complete resto on my 89' Vert the only thing that is acting up after a complete disassembly is my "Door Ajar" light wont turn off, and YES the doors are completely closed when this happens, any thoughts where I should start looking. I hate seeing warning lights light up on my dash.

Start with the door ajar switches. Test for continuity with a voltmeter.

The side of the car that allows the door panel interior light to come on is the immediate culprit, but I'd replace both of them, because if one's gone ****-up, the other's sure to follow.

You can get them for under $15 at your Chevy dealer.

I had the same problem on my 88 Vette. Try taking a piece of electrical tape and sticking it where on the point on the door where the switch makes contact. The plastic on the door jamb switches do begin to wear off after time.

most probably the door switch(es) not being depressed enough to open the circuit and tell the CCM that the door is closed.

Try just pushing in the door switch, does the 'door ajar' light go out?

If so, then another fix, assuming the switch still has its plastic 'nose' (a flat head with shaft -- which pulls out of the center of the switch plunger to provide self-adjustment), then if you can pull it out, put 2 little rubber o-rings behind its flat head. This will keep the self-adjusting 'nose' sticking out further and hopefully contact the door jam sooner and push in the switch further and thereby create the open circuit which should turn off the 'door ajar' light.

If by chance the switches are just shorted and no longer 'open' the circuit, regardless of the switch being pushed-in, replacement can be done right through their hole in the door, and do not require the door to be taken apart. See your FSM or do a search.
