I would suggest getting the balancer on and the coil (don't need to bother with the belt) for a quick fire-up to make sure it works before putting the water pump back on. Just don't let it run for more than a few seconds.
OK I tested it and it fired up but died shortly after. I didn't have maf intake hoses connected or the water pump.
Hmmm, that's interesting - when I test-fired mine, it didn't die. I had warning lights on due to the coolant sensor, MAF, etc. being disconnected, but it ran fine. Again, I only let it run for a few seconds, since there's no coolant in the engine. I would assume, though, that since yours started OK, things are hunky-dory.

Not a good sign. You can run it for more than a few seconds the engine won't catch on fire . Make sure you have a ll sensors attached and make sure it will run till you turn it off. Even with the maf off it should run in SD mode. Hook up the coolant sensor and IAT. And try again. It should run and idle fine at this point.
