hello all! not use to being on the C4 side, but i recently bought a 1993 and i have a question about the remote, i was trying to program it, but i did notice that it "rattle's" when you shake it, is this a normal noise, or is it trash?
they are not suppose to rattle. If you open it you will Polly see the contacts around the battery the goes the circuit board are broken off. That is what was wrong with mine when I bought it. I took it too a little electrical repair place and had them soter them back together.

Both of mine have a very slight rattle. I was told that's what wakes up the transmitter so that it is not transmitting all the time, as if, if you left your fob in the car & locked it you can open the locks (door) by shaking the car to activate the FOB (pke). If I'm wrong please correct me. Thanks.

Yes, they very well could rattle slightly!
Mine does, and it works perfectly
As Red Dwarf said, it's a very slight rattle though.

True statement the rattle comes from a ball bearing that rides loose inside. You want this rattle as it does indeed wake up the remote. The rocking the car method is hit or miss but will work if the ball bearing rocks.
i need to reprogram my remote now, i think the problem i had before while trying to program it was that i had the remote with me, and the instructions say to have it away from the car until it flashes?
I've got a 94 LT1 and it came with an orginal fob (I got it in 2006). The orginal fob did rattle, I've had it apart to change the battery, and it's got a little cage with a ball in it, that's what rattles. Also, if you leave the key in the ignition, you can shake the car and it will unlock-I've done this several (3) times. It's always worked.
About a year ago, I bought a new fob-off the internet. Looked new in the package. It was held together with 2 screws (the old one was held together with tape-the locking tabs had broken). Anyway, the new one does NOT have the cage and ball, but, it still works when you walk away from the car and wakes it up when you approach it. Only thing, if you leave the key in the car and it locks the door, shaking the car does NOT work. Tried it last weekend, me and a friend almost picked the left rear quarter off the ground several times and no luck.
