Default Bought a C4

Well I bought a 40th ruby convertible, now I'm looking for some info from you C4 guys. I have a C6 Z06 and bought the ruby because I have always loved the C4 in ruby red. What should I expect in power and handling? The car is in great condition 40k miles....the brakes seam a little stiff and I seam to get a lot of road feedback through the wheel. Power wise it seems ok, nothing wild...I know its not going to be like my Z, but what should I expect? It seams kinda flat when getting on it, mabe this is normal??? I dont know thats why I'm looking for your input. Any info you guys can throw at me would be well appreciated.......I now see why you guys like your C4.....great cars

Thanks Scott

Congrats on your purchase. Your C-4 is going to handle like a truck, brake like a snow board, and have the git-up and go of a go-cart compared to the Z06. The LT1 engine should pull strong until redline, so if she's a lil' flat, maybe its i need of a good tune-up. At 40k miles, a good once over of all suspension\steering parts is in order. Chances are good that you're just spoiled rotten.
And I'm green with envy............

Congrats on your C4 purchase...You have two of the cars I want, a Ruby and a Z06. I have an 84 which I really like it's not fast, but I'm 46 I don't need to go fast, Just look good... So I can't really comment on LT1 in the Ruby, just no comparison between that and the Crossfire. Maybe my next future purchase will be a Z06. Enjoy both..

Gee, other than the word CORVETTE, I can't think of any comparisons! Congrats on two very desireable cars!

I could not say it any better. After diving my L98 for a year or so, I went for a drive in a buddies LT. Quite a bit of difference in the response and handling of the two cars. I still LOVE the feel and looks of my "little" '86 pacer (plenty enough power for me). Am happy that you can appreciate the "old school" of the C4. You might see if someone here lives close enough to come over for a ride and see if it is "giving its all" or if something may be a bit off.
When I brought mine home I thought it had a massive amount of power (for what it is). I wish I had one of the guys here (that is used to the L98) take it for a drive. I found a stopped up cat a few months back. Replaced it and found out how much power this thing actually has.
While nothing like your C6........still was a world of difference with the new exhaust in it.
You could be spoiled.........the car could have an issue. Either way..........welcome into the world of C4's!

Default Apples and raisens

Scott dude,
Compairing a C6 Z06 to a LT1 C4 is not even apples to oranges. Its like comparing a Gulf V to a Cessna Cadet both in performance and price. While the Z06 is stiff for a C6 it is nothing compaired to the C4 in ride quality so keep in mind the 14 years of work and the tens of millions of dollors spent in development by GM on the Corvette. My sugestion is to go out to a used car lot an find an early modle Miata and take it for a "Test" ride for a couple of hours then jump in the the C4 you'll think your riding in the space shuttle.

OK OK I know its not going to compare to my Z.....I was just wanting to know what the C4's handled like. Well the more I drive it the better it gets, I'm starting to figure out its little characteristics and I'm enjoying every minute. The car seams to have plenty of power, as most of you have said I'm spoiled from the Z....true, the Z is a fricken monster. I appreciate all of your colorful insite and glad to be apart of the C4 forum..
