Hi all I got a used black hard top off of Ebay last week.
I then got some paint from this place http://www.automotivetouchup.com/aut..._basecoat.aspx
pre mixed out of the can to the gun they will mix what ever color you want and they have most any factory colors and they even have a thing to look up your color.
I was very pleasantly surprised it worked great I did 5 coats of clear it all went great then of course dust blew on the clear before it dried
Oh well it turned out pretty good I may try and buff out the dust later.
I always like the solid look I never cared for the smoked top I always like the one solid color
I put old one on eBay to try and get a few bucks back.
Just bought a fiberglass targa on ebay about 2 months ago for $350 shipped.
I really prefer it to the smoked glass top too as far as looks/sound/heat.
I paid almost $300 to have it professionally stripped and painted with new trim from GM.
Thanks
Thats what I did but I paid $385.00 plus $40 shipping and I did not get it painted by a professional
you get the top from a guy out VA beach Virgina on ebay?
Looks pretty good! I'm just in the midst of doing the same thing - but I wanted both tops. Anyways, my question is: what goes under the headliner material? I have to make a new headliner and don't know what to use under the material. Any suggestions? (I don't really mean to hijack this thread but I figured that anyone looking at yours might have the answers I need.) Thanks!
Okay, I'm inspired to get my painted top out and store the clear for awhile!
Cool go for it I always liked the hardtop not into the glass top makes the car look like its 2 tone paint to me..
I will end up repainting it later down the road and this time clean out the shed and seal it off so I can cut down on the dust..
But for now it looks ok you really don't see the imperfections unless you get right up on it..
