Default Problem with power window

I have an 84 with a broken ribbon on the passenger side.I was able to locate a new one and I also was able to get the broken ribbon out of the car.I have not tried to get the connected part of the ribbon.I was hoping somebody would have some instructions or photos on how to uninstall the old one and install the new one.THanks

Has anybody even changed one of those power window ribbons before? I need to know what size rivet it takes.

I did both sides on mine. Driver side seemed like a bad ribbon, but the rivets to the rail were both broken. I drilled out and replaced with slightly larger rivets. Don't know the size, maybe 3/16? Passenger side ribbon did break, replaced those rivets with same size. Windows work perfectly now.

If you are going through the trouble of pulling the window regulator, I would just replace the unit with the 87' and up style regulator. They are expensive if bought new, but used ones from recyclers are not too bad.

I have replaced my driver's side and the improvement is worth the expense.
