Locked up my compressor at WOT. Guess I should have turned it off.
Smoked the belt. I would like to bypass the compressor till later (the clutch bearings sound like they make lock up too) Is there a belt available to do this? 93 stock lt1, two sided ribbed belt.
Thanks
Jim
Only way I know to do an a/c bypass is with a bypass pulley. I think they are about $60. A shorter belt won't work because of the way they have to run around everything else.
Just re-read your post.:o
Not sure about how the belts routes around an LT1 (I was thinking of the L98). Might be able to do it with a shorter belt on that one.
Someone with more knowledge than me will surely chime in on this.

Uhh people are using shorter belts on l98's, they are just routing it around the tensioner the other way.
Just FYI, I assume your car would be the same, but A/C shuts off anyway at WOT so probably wouldn't have mattered if you had shut it off manually or not.
