Fill out your profile so that we know your vette.
My 95 vert glass window did the same thing. Instead of buying a new top, (orig top is in good condition) i tried placing a bead of GE silicone around the inside perimeter. It held up very well and it was done almost 3 years ago. Just be very carful not to get the silicone on the outside of the fabric. You can use some masking tape just in case.Go slow and do not rush.
good luck

both Vette techs I talked to today said to use 3M butyl tape, the kind that holds the windshield in. Only thing they found that actually works.

Those guys need to get out more (what's a "Vette tech" anyway?). Both previous poster enventr and I have had good results with silicone sealant. I got mine -- the marine variety -- at West Marine.

Since my 94's window was almost completely detached I took the entire top off the car so I could lay the rear portion out flat for glueing the window, with weights around the perimeter until the sealant cured.

Butyl tape went in easy, but the real test will be a hot Florida day! If it softens, I'll pull the top like you did.

If/when you have to pull the top use a tip I got from someone on this forum: don't try to take the framework off at the torx bolts that hold the two arms to the mounting plates on either side -- it's much easier to remove those plates (3 nuts each) and take them out with the framework still attached.

Even at that it's helpful to have an assistant.

I used Rhino Glue. Google it. I tried other types and nothing worked. I put the stuff on two years old ago and still going strong.
