Ok i went and looked on my AC compressor and it says its R12, how can i tell if its been changed over?? Its not blowin cold and i need it charged! Please help thanks in advance!
94 was the first year r134a was used in Corvettes.
When a system is converted from R12 to a different refrigerant, you're suppose to install different fittings on the high and low side pressure test ports along with a sticker indicating what refrigerant has been installed.
R134a type fittings are a quick coupling type. Blue color cap is low side and Red color cap high side.
R12 fittings are screw on type.
Here's a pic. of R134a adapter fittings.
Here's a pic of an R12 Accumulator. The small valve is the low pressure test port. The test port has threads on it.
