What bragging? Was this from a dead stop and on a drag strip or on the highway with other innocent drivers around?
Race stock for stock and he won't have much bragging rights, he needed to spend $2k to beat a car that is over 10 years old in design! Tell him to go up against a 2008 vette, that should wipe the smug off his face.

And wait til that things shoots parts out the tail pipes and then see how well he likes modding his beemer... The boats are slow to bring replacement parts over the pond...I know from experience...

my LT4 stock ran a best of 13.30s at 106mph street tires
with 4.10s it went 13.001 at 106mph drag radials
added hotcam it ran 12.90s at 111mph street tires
added longtube headers it ran 12.40s at 114mph drag radials
added electric water pump it ran 12.30s at 114.98 mph slicks/autox tires with a 20 mph headwind

HOT cam upgrade netted my LT4 exactly 26 WHP on a Mustang 1750 Eddy dyno...only mod to the car previous was a Corsa exhaust. No PCM programming either...although it would benefit from it.
The engine was made for the cam...
Corsa was 17 WHP alone.
All on the same dyno/operator/etc.

...But how long will it last. I understand that new bimmer setup is an award winning engine, but it is still new and untested in the long run with respect to mods. Those cars notice a significant power increase by only upping the boost to 10psi. I think your friend is pushing the limits. Your LT4 will outlast him in the long run.
