Default A-arm spacers.

On the front bars upon which the upper front a-arms pivot. In 1987 do the large spacers that stand this bar off from the cradle, do they go at the forward (front mounting), or the rearward mounting position? A photo of a 1987 showing this would be helpful.

At car shows I have seen the larger spacer both at the front or rearward, perhaps depending on the years.

The spacers go where they are needed doing the alignment. They can't be just put in where ever. That's why the different thickness.

I am inquiring about the nests that have a spherical indentation that the ball contours of the cross shaft nest in. I apologize for giving a poor description, and causing confusion. There is in fact an orientation to these according to the shop manual. It speaks of the thicker being towards the rear of the car, the thinner towards the front. You are corect about the spacers (shims) that go behind these nests. They are for final alignment.

Anyone have a picture of an unmolested 1987 front suspension? It seems that the thicker nest was at the front on my car.
