My 92 starts fine, and runs good for about 10 miles then it starts to miss and sputter, then die. I can restart it but it still misses and sputters. If it sits for a length of time (prob long enough to cool off) it will start and run fine for about 10 miles, then it starts missing again.
Could this be the Opti Spark? That is what the Dealer told me and they want $1500 to replace it and the water pump! Not to sure about the dealers work, and I would hate to do the replace myself and find it's not the opti!!
Sorry.....was just trying to get the opinion of people that may not look at the Tech forum. Delete if needed!!!!!!!!!!! Just looking for a little help..jeez!!
I had similar situation on my 94 a few months ago. Found very small pinhole leak on bottom of hose going into throttle body, sits just above water pump and Opti. When car heated up, it would trickle into Opti causing shut down. No start until dried out. Banged my head for 2 weeks getting $1500 estimates, to fix, till I put a Q beam on the engine one night late and spotted slight leak. Easily fixed. Start there.

It could be some water in the bottom of the tank sloshing around and occasionally getting picked up, I had this on my 88. Without the hatch drain kit, the rain water from the hatch can be forced to drain through the fuel filler neck drain, and possibly end up in the gas over time(or condensation caused it, i dunno). The car would start fine cold, run ok for a few miles and then stutter, you'd turn around and barely make it back. Cleaned the tank out (really easy) and all was well.
