Default Tire Prices

Hi Everyone

I am going to get a set of O.E. Concepts wheels (17X11 and 17X9.5) from TomzWheels and I was wondering what everyone thought of Sumitomo HTR Z for these sizes (315/35-17 275/40-17)? The prices are $88 for the front tire and $99 for the back tire which seem more then fair. Total with shipping is $425.74

Thank you for the input
Ed

Awesome prices! Where did you find these prices?

It is my understanding that Goodyear owns 60% share of Sumitomo.

I say go for it.

Just bought my second set. If you have a ZR-1, you don't have a choice.

Default Kuhmo

I don't think I spelled it right, but I recently put a set of Kuhmo on my 95 LT1. Bought them at a Chevy dealer. Highly recommended by service manager. Drive out price was about $650. Have been very pleased with them so far.

i can blow this tires off in any of my first 3 gears no matter how hot they are. wet roads are a waste of time in any gear other than 6th ive almost wrecked this car at 35-45 mph trying to pass someone lost traction when i nailed it to go aroung them.

Mind if i ask what the total cost of the tire and wheel package is ? I'm in the market for the same package, but Tomz Wheels quoted me a fairly high price for the complete package.

Default wheels and tires

-Warning- I would definately not order the rims and tires seperate. Have them mounted and tested first by the company you are ordering rims from. I made this mistake last time. I am still chasing a front end vibration that started the day I installed my ZR1 wheels from Tomz and Sumitomos from Tirerack. It's been balanced on a Road Force and aligned numerous times with no luck. I already tried buying a new rim and now I'm waiting to buy new front tires. If I had ordered them both from one place I would not be having this problem or I could have sent them back. Spend a bit more now and save a lot in the long run. IMO

I only know that they want $419 for the wheels I dont know what shipping will cost yet. I did not get a package because the only tires I found on there web site that fit are Vrederstein at $629 a set.

You get what you pay for with tires...which is unfortunate since to get decent performance for our sizes you have to spend a TON of money. I think all my BFG rubber is something like $1100 to replace

I should have known, to good to be true
I'm looking at the reviews from vette owners on the site and I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Thanks for the info so far.

Right now we have the Sumitomo's in a 275/40/17 and 315/35/17 combo on sale for 349 plus shipping. We can mount, balance, and do a road force for $40. If the wheels are 419 the wheel and tire combo would be 808 plus shipping. We are running low on the Black ZR1's so if you are interested youy might want to give us a call.

Thanks
Tom

Nitto is now making 315/35/17s again in their nt555 (not the drag radial) which I would definitly take over the superhomos

I ordered this set. For the Price, reviews and opinions of forum members and others I think I'm going to have to form my own opinion since it seems like a 50/50 split. I will post my outcome in a couple of weeks. Thank you all for the insight. And please do not think I ignored the ones that said the tires are bad I just don't think I could pass on that deal. I would rather spend a little and not like them then spend a lot and not like them. I bought a set of more expensive dunlops for my 900rr because they were supposed to be better but I never did feel as safe as I did on the cheaper Bridgestone Battle Axes.

Default I will pay for rain stability

I've run Bridgestone Potenzas in a driving rainstorm at the posted speed limit with zero stability problems. Wet adhesion is one of my important features as my car is a DD and you never know when a tropical storm is going to dump on you here in South Texas. The cheaper tires would have me upside down in a ditch.

Larry
