I am just brain storming. Ok, there are threads on the crossfire injection system but I just need to know...
Has anyone ever found or experimented with TBI spacers on a crossfire?
I have personally not heard of this.
Old carb spacers add power and are a simple bolt on. I see that they make tbi spacers for trucks and cars with dual pod tbi's.
If there was more space for air and fuel mixture in the base of the plenum, below the tbi's, this would equal more ponies. right?
I am just thinking out loud. Do they exist, and would it be possible for a power gain? Again, I am just wondering and am curious because I have not heard of a mod like this for a crossfire.
I've had my 1984 'Vette for 6 years now, and spent a lot of time surfing the Internet, and I have never run across anything like what you are suggesting. You might want to look at CorvetteActionCenter.com/CrossFire Injection Mine.
What you probably heard about was the double gasket for the CFI tower. What this does is raise the injector up to the point where you get the best gas atomization according to to testing that folks have done. What you want to do is get a set of CFI injector tower gaskets and put a second one on each of the injector towers. This will give you a few extra ponies at WOT. I did this trick as well as increasing the fuel pump pressure to give mine a better performance off idle.
Check the Crossfire Injection Vault there is a wealth of info there. I believe i've read that someone put spacers under the TB's as well as the lid that they sit on.
I have a lid spacer on my crossfire. Had the Engineering Manager where I work run the numbers on this and it actually increases the volume of the plenium by 15%. Noticed an increase in performance. Not too hard to make, just use the lid to intake manifald as a template
My 84 has the Xram set up ,but performance is about what a stock well tuned 84 is. Without doing head work the Xram wont help much IMO.Im planning head work in the future to get myself out of the 15s.
A few years back I had an 84 with a 1/2" spacer. It was necessary because the intake runners were cut and inlarged. Lots of welding, but on the 383 it was fast. I think the intake still floating around Phoenix somewhere.
