Above 30 it don't read in tenths...it had to be a little higher because I came off the highway around a long exit ramp and had to stop. When I pulled out I went through the gears easy and it was still reading 30 onto the next highway.
I can not tell you how much I hear this at the gas station " How can you afford to drive that thing with these gas prices " THen I tell them that it gets WAY BETTER MPG than my 03 Dodge Ram HEMI that gets 12-18 City/Highway and It gets almost the same as my 1997
Maxima dohc 6 cyc. On a recent trip to Bowling Green KY we drove the Corvette and we were running an average of 70-75 mph with the
AC on and the computer told me that I got a best of 26.2 mpg I then verified this info at the next fill up and it was dead on. Since then I have done more checking and I average 19-22 combined city/Highway
Before the trip I did a full tune that included wires, plugs, New MSD Opti. and I do have 2.58 or 2.59 gears also.
The new car comercials just make me laugh especially the Camry and Corolla...I mean how is it that we can put a man on the moon and make a 300 hp 14 year old Corvette get 20-26 and the new camry/corolla get maybe 31-38 mpg. Do not get me wrong I know that there are more factors here weight, and aerodynamics .........but good grief the new Z06 stickers at 17 and 27 mpg and is the only super car made that does not have the Gas Guzzlerr Tax attached to it and it is rated at 500 hp or so
Sorry for the lenght Enjoy you day and your CORVETTE
Mine displays a little bit to the optimistic side, but not too much. Last years vacation to Colorado got me 29 mpg. That was measured gal. and calculated by miles traveled. (not the display) I really was surprised that the LT4 did as well on gas as it did in the mountains. It did only slightly less than it got down on the flat land. We didn't spare the whip either. West Texas has 80MPH speed limit and we went from Kerrville to Ft. Stockton at 85mph on IH10, and then North to Roswell New Mexico and got just a hair under 30mpg. Big torque and tall gears rule for mpg. My little kia will barely post the same but it's buzzing its *** off at 3000rpm doing it. The Vette is putting along about 1800rpm!

just a thought but would the Zo6 get anywhere near that without the 1-4 lockout? if you really rowed the gears it would be alot lower
and what i have learned in my 17 years of living is the sticker is off by 3-7 mpg
I haven't hit 30, but I made a trip to Memphis and back (about 1,000 miles) a few weeks ago. When I got to Memphis and left I-40, I was running just over 29 mpg. After running through town, getting back on the interstate and doing the other half, I finished at about 27. That includes about 40 miles of intown driving in Memphis. I'm happy. My city mileage always runs in the neighborhood of 22 - 23 mpg. I've verified it several times. My car is a '91 6-speed, and I run the gears pretty easy, but I love the mpg!
Tooling around the north GA hills and taking it easy for my wife we got 26 mpg. Thats nothing over 60 mph, mostly 40 to 50 mph and really trying to baby it. Thats with a '96 CE LT1 with over 120k. Not even in a very good state of tune at the time on 87 octane gas.
I got 58 once, I reset the avg and idled down a hill. I have headers, ported heads and 2.59 gears and I get 28-29 and that is going 55mph.
So unless you were followed by a hurricane pushing you along.
I get a decent 27 mpg on the highway in my high power rough idling carbed 383. Thanks to 3.07 gears, overdrive and the torque converter lock up. Once I hit the city, the mileage does drop to about 15 mpg and down to about 8 mpg when I drive it like I stole it. Oh yeah I get a lot of stares and a negative comment here and there every other time I fill up.
Well, my car could probably get into the 11s, but I could never dream of 30 mpg. The best I've seen is a long highway trip at 75mph, I was getting 24.7. My average readout stays at about 16, wonder what it'll be like once I get my leaky injectors fixed!
