speaker problems - help

speaker problems - help
have a 87 vert - only 39K on her - never had any radio problems - now i'am getting a strange noise from the right front in the door speaker - it goes out completely - than comes back on real loud - what exactly is going on here - bad speaker or could it be bad radio??? what would be the best action to take? thanks for any help.

If the radio is bad, all of the speakers will act up, sounds like you need your speakers rebuilt. You can send them back to Bose for repair ($100.00 each) or to Dr Dons, he is cheaper and gives a guarantee.

The first thing I would do is check the connections to that speaker. It only takes a couple of minutes to access it on the door panel. If the connections are intact you are probably looking at replacing that speaker.

The radio supplies the audio to each speaker which has their own amplifier. First you have to determine if the radio is supplying the increased audio to the affected speaker and if it isn't, then you have an amplifier or speaker connection problem.
