what is the value of a 1993 Ruby ?
I saw a 93 Ruby, auto w_47K miles on it. quick look indicates that it is in good condition. they are asking $14,999. KBB retail value is $12.8K. what is a fair value for it ? is the 40th anniversary worth more then the normal 93 ?
Thanks
Thanks

Plus its purple.
I'd say in this market even the KBB is high.

I would have to agree with you...I'm actually surprised KBB even says 12.8, guess it's the anniversary word. It does have low miles and as long as it was taken care of I would see it going for 12-14.

Why so many Ruby's produced......Because damand for this trim was High !!! The Ruby also carried a $1,445 adder to the base price.
...and Ruby color is no where near the hue of "Purple" !!
12K->14K doe's not sound unreasonable for a low mileage, well maintained Ruby....
Here's the breakdown of 1993 production codes/colors:

47k miles isnt "low"...maybe lower than average but its no virgin either .
Dont pay too much of a pumped up price. Rubys are cool but dont be fooled into thinking they will be a big money car any time soon . Just being straight..

I have never understood why people that own '93's think their cars are special. Plus I hate the Ruby color.

I sure don't want to get in the middle here.
I was just going through the Corvette trader and there are 4 of the Ruby's on there for sale. Anywhere from $9800.00 to I believe $16,000. I don't recall the mileage. Check them out.

I STRONGLY disagree. It was the most "ordered" color for the Corvette that year by far.
Again, I strongly disagree. It was so popular because any dealer could ordered them and so the dealers - especially the ones with small allotments - ordered Ruby's thinking that they could get more than for a non anniversary Corvette. In 1994 there were hundreds left over that sold for below invoice pricing.
Its purple to anyone that doesn't know there was a specific name assigned to it.

Oh sorry, you are too cool with a white Z07 coupe... What the hell is that?
Oh yeah, the suspension that is standard on most Vettes.
I love folks who go out of their way to voice their negative opinion about another's car. All you had to do was answer the poster's question, but noooo, you are just TOO COOL!!!
If you cannot distinguish purple from Ruby Red, what will you give your wife on your 40th anniversary?

You can find 93's with less than 1000 miles going in the mid twenties, less than 10,000 high teens, and then downward as miles increase, and condition lessens. Docs are important to vlaidate the mileage, although with the ECM's, the days of turning them back are near over.
Some ruby's indeed still command a premium, and the price books still show it.
Good luck with you search!
Maybe I'll see you at an area show or race.

To answer your question, the miles and condition would matter more than color. As you can see from the earlier posts, color preference is a subjective thing, although cars with real low numbers in a particular color, like c-4's in gold and copper might go for a premium.

In my haste to reply, I responded to the other Pennsylvanian.
This should have been a response to the original poster, but thanks to Nitlelord as well for providing help to him as well. When you don't know something, you look to the forum for help. Price is always the first stumbling block until you know where to go for a sanity check. The forum is usually a good source for such a check.
hope 92 PGC found the help he needed to make an educated decision.
ALL Vettes are great; except when you pay more than you should, for what you get.
If you like one more than another, and all else is same, go for the one you like most. Rarely is all else the same, so make sure the condition is right first, then just try to reach a fair price.
Corvette Trader, and autotrader, as well as others, gives insight to asking prices, which are generally much higher then those on the forum would say ( unless and until it is their car for sale ), but using all of this data will help get you in the right ballpark.
Good Luck to you, 92 PGC!
The search is half of the fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe looking at that " white" has caused your eyesight to fail prematurely. Purple my ***. Your memory is as flawed as your vision, with your " hundreds left over sold below invoice" comment.

Thought your eyesight indeed was failing.
You just now caught Barney?
Yes, just TOOOO Cool!!!!
Still stand by my earlier post; Why not help the initial poster with his question, rather than go out of your way to knock another car?
Nice attitude.
I have met a few folks like that at events over the many years, but not usually from hardcore Corvette people.
Yeah; that sure is a "Cool" all right.
