Ok, this is my 1st visit over to the C4 section. I have 2 C3s.....a 72 small block coupe and a 74 ragtop 454. These dinosaurs have become such collectors and SUCK GAS so bad it is not practical to actually drive them for a weekend trip anymore. Plus they are hot as hell and have lousy AC. I would appreciate some advice on a C4.
I'm thinking of a 94 - 96 convertible. I have looked at a BMW 3 series but its too damn little. What sorta gas milege can one average in aC4 with an automatic? Also... Is any particular year considered the "best C4"? I am going to start looking for one of these under 50,000 miles.
Thanks for any suggestions.

In my 96 LT1 auto, I get about 16-18 in the city...mainly depending on how long I sit at traffic lights. Highway, I get about 26-28mpg. I don't get to use the cruise much here in FL so I usually hover close to the 26mpg mark. Good luck to ya!

Can't argue with that...
I'd go for a 94-96. I have a 6spd 96 with the LT4 engine (factory hod-rodded LT1) and get normally 18/28, but I just averaged 31mpg on my latest highway trip...so it also depends on how you drive. They're great cars that are cheap to get into and very rewarding to drive. Good luck with your search!

The cars of course didn't get worse as the years went, so '96 would have the best of whatever. That said, not tons changed. The new seats and interior came out in '94 so they'd all have it. OBD-I vs OBD-II would be one diff for the '96, if that matters. Otherwise, I'd say get whichever is the better kept car. Mileage and condition probably make more difference than '94 vs '95 vs '96.
