Default 88 Coupe A/C controller blinking

The readout on the digital A/C controler blinks all the time. A/c works great but the constant blinking is anoying. Any ideas on a fix, Thanks

......disconnect the battery for a min or so and see if that doesn't clear it up.....

If the entire panel is blinking, you probably need a new one. If it's the LED at the Outside Air Temp Readout that's blinking, that indicates a troublecode. There isn't a lot of diagnostic info for an '88, but you can access it by holding the Outside Temp Button and pressing and releasing the Auto Button. Then push the Warm button until the Outside Temp displays 08. Press the Cold Button for any Codes. 00 means there are none, but if you get one, post it.

This happens to me almost every day. All the controls work perfectly so I am going to ignore it for now. While it is flashing the next control change is delayed for a minute or two. And yes I am going to follow this thread to find out how much this problem is going to cost me. My repair list is getting longer by the day.

Opps! As far as I know, there isn't an 07 (at least not until '90, so if we're dealing with that Year, repost or go here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...193&TopicID=2). I'd guess you stopped at Module 7 which is the calculated temp door position and if you hit the Cool Button at this Mode, another 2 or 3 digit number would have popped out which is the Binary equilivant of what the Processor thinks the door position is. Try again. Hold the Ext Button while pressing and releasing the Auto Button. If any number except 08 appears, press the Warm Button until the Display indicates 08. Then press the Cool Button. Codes are: 00 - No Faults; 01 Open in the Temp Door Feedback Circuit; 02 Outside Temp Sensor Open; 04 Outside Temp Sensor Shorted; 08 Inside Temp Sensor Open; and 16 Inside Temp Sensor Shorted. As you can see, there isn't a whole lot there. Sensors are thermistors and as they warm up, their resistance decreases. The Processor is sending them a low voltage (5 volts) signal, so as the resistance decreases, the voltage drops and the Processor uses that to measure temperature. If a Sensor is open, there's no drop and the Processor sees a constant 5 volts and it's programmed to recognize that as a fault. If it's grounded, the opposite happens - there's 0 volts and the Processor is programmed to recognized that as a fault. Pretty simple really - and not much use for diagnosing these systems, but if the Panel is flashing at you, I'm sure you'd like to fix it.
