Default Fuel Problems???

I had a bad fuel gage and tracked it to the fuel level sending unit. When I pulled the sending unit / fuel pump out I found the gas tank was realy dirty. Had that cleaned and a new fuel filter installed. I've had low power at full throttle and hope this will help. Has anybody had similar problems? What else can cause poor full thorttle performance?

Everything under your clamshell can cause poor performance. You started in the right place. Fuel, air, ignition are all you need. One step at a time and that Vette will come alive. You did the fuel delivery, next the air filter and after that the dist cap, plugs and wires. Then fine tune all three systems. Fuel pressure and injectors. Cut air intake. Aftermarket or new distributor.
Have fun, and keep in mind "Your Vette looks better than any Mustang even while it is parked"...

I already had to do the distributer, it's new (no tach signal) so that's off the list. Also wires and plugs are great. The air filter looks good but I might try that if I get no joy with the fuel system. The car runs fine if you drive it like Grandma. Hard acceleration and it just seems flat. No real power.

OK, got the new pump and sending unit installed. Gas gage works, idle is better, fuel economy is better, power is better. I filled up with 89 octane and found that the L98 engine is not happy with that. Now I'll have to wait until my next tank of gas to see if the power is any better. This is my first Vette. After years of motorcycles I wanted a little more comfort but I do miss the raw power. 0-60 in 3.2 sec. and top end of +170mph. Just how good or bad is the power on the L98 engines?

I have a 1990 L98 automatic with 18,000 miles total. Not a real performer, just adequate. I have spun the tires for about 20 feet on dry payment off the line.

Sounds sweet! Mine is an 85 with 145000 miles on it. I named the car Stinky when I got it a few months ago. Repalced the interior, tires and some other parts. It dosn't stink anymore, but I'm going to keep the name anyway.
