Replacing adjustable shocks

I did the very same thing on my 93 LT1. The adjustable shocks were not functioning and turning on the error code light due to broken gears at the top of the shocks. I replace all the shocks with std. Bilstiens and disconnected the black box shock controller from behind the passenger seat. When I did that no more error light on the dash. By the way I sold the parts including the controller box to a rebuilder for a few bucks. (I think around $50-$75 if my memory is correct.)
