My 96 LT4 is back to me from getting the CC502 cam and ported stock heads. I definately feel a noticeable amount of power increase, thank god.
I didnt feel much when the 4:11 gears were put in for some reason, and I felt a little when I switched from B&B tri flow exhaust to eliminators with an x pipe. I feel a good amount of power with the cam and ported heads.
One thing though, at 61 mph to around 78 mph, the steering wheel shakes enough that my hands vibrates. Is this normal after camming? I'm getting it dyno tuned tommorrow at RPM motors. Will the tune fix the problem? I sure hope so, it vibrates quite a bit.
I will post the hp and tq numbers tommorrow. I will try to post a video of the new sound. It sounds deeper and louder even without headers. Thanks in advance for your inputs.
IMHO, no way the engine work could have caused your vibration. To prove it, while the car is vibrating in your set speed range, push in the clutch and let the motor go to idle. If your car still shakes, it is not the motor.
Best guess is they somehow knocked a wheel weight off while they were working on your car. Have the front wheels rebalanced and you'll be golden.
Look at the harmonic balancer, it may be loose. Also, why do all that port & cam work & not add headers? I think youre leaving allot of power on the table. I wouldnt have it tuned until the headers were on. JMO

Thanks for your reply. I would love to put long tubes on but I have smog issues here in california. Once I find someone who will pass me, I will get headers down the road when I get some more funds. First I'm going to try getting my front tires rebalanced, like fast doc suggested and then if that doesnt fix the problem I will look into the harmonic balancer. Hope it doesnt cost much. Thanks.

Ouch...didnt see that you were in the Republic of Kalifornia....my sympathies... You can easily tell if the balancer is loose or has a deteriorated rubber section by looking at it while the engine is running. Check to see if its wobbling. Also, tug on it with your hand if you can. (while its not running of course) Have someone rev the engine while you watch it.

Thanks alot fast doc. I took your advice and got my two front tires rebalanced and It solved the problem. Glad it was a simple fix.
Good to hear you took the plunge, I know last time you were out you werent happy with the stock LT4.
I may have to call Charlie....If my bucket doesnt sell I wouldnt mind checking the tune on it. No time right now though, she sits collecting dust.

That turned out well! Glad it was easy. I once was powerwashing the inside of my wheels and knocked off an adhesive wheel weight and had the same problem.
