Default OOPS, wrong rear end!

I bought an old 85 Corvette to have some fun in and get good highway fuel economy. I just figured out that the vette I have has the 3.07 performance rear end. Looks like I'll be paying a gas penalty for the extra zip. I finally got the fuel injectors changed and now the car runs very well. Anyone out there got the 3.07 with an automatic. I'd like to know what kind of mileage to expect.

I've gotten up to 26mpg on the hwy. in my 96 with 300 hp with the same gear and automatic. It depends how much you use the gas pedal. I usually get between 20-26 mpg with mixed driving and my lead foot. It might be a little better if I get a tune-up.

With the 3.07 rear gas mileage will not as good as with the standard 2.53, but it's a lot more fun to drive. While not exceptional, the average mileage on a C4 is very good. People don't buy a Corvette for its mileage rating. If you want 30+ mpg buy a Honda.

A Honda S2000 was my first choice. They have poor fuel economy, higher prices and even higher up keep cost. The C4 has been very resonable cost wise to fix. The Vette also has better interior space. Just how acruate is that MPG meter on the dash?

With my 1985 automatic, 3.07 gears and the old engine (stock bottom end), AFR heads, RR, SuperRam...etc. I was running 13.6 thru the 1/4 mile about 345 HP at the crank and 400 pounds of torque at the crank.....AND 27.2 MPG on the freeway. Just keep your foot out of it

The MPG meter on the dash is the total average MPG since the last time you reset the meter. To get an accurate MPG per tank of gas just reset your trip odometer and the next time you fill up after you reset, divide the number of miles by the number of gallons you put in the tank.

I had 2.59s in my car and changed to 3.07s. I was getting 28 on the freeway and now I get about 26.

I went from 2.59 to 3.54 and to be honest never checked the MPG. However,a couple of points. Unless your car is totally stock don't believe the average mpg readout. The computer counts the injector pulses so if you have screwed with the pressure or gone bigger injectors it will lie.The only way to find out is divide miles run by gallons consumed.Mine turns in the best mileage of around 27/28 at 2600rpm@80.I find that astonishing with my engine but it's true.
