Default A/C problem/or not

I have a 94 coupe and my A/C does blow ice cold air, but just not as hard as I would expect. There was another thread I think I posted a while back about how hot my car got in the Texas heat even with the A/C recirculating, full blast, temp at 60*. Another poster commented on how strong these Corvette's A/C's were and how it should cool down the inside of my car very well even it its been sitting in a parking lot all day in 100+* heat.

For comparison, I also have a 08 Nissan Titan. When I put the A/C max, it would blow a tupee off. I mean it litterally blows almost as hard as a carpenter's air compressor he uses with his nail gun. If I hold up my hand in front of the AC vent, I can move it back into the back seat of the truck, and I can still feel the air hitting my hand.

When I put my hand about 2 feet away from the center A/C vent in my 'vette on full blast, recirculating, I can barely feel the air hitting my hand. Is this normal? The air it blows gets just as cold as my Nissan Titan, just doesn't blow as hard as I would like.

Any suggestions?

For cooling down?

Tint the windows
Insulate under the carpet
Use a solid top
Replace the blower motor. (mine was pretty much as you describe)

This assumes the system is fully charged as you state.

Default Hot here- cool inside Corvette.

Here in eastern North Carolina it's hot and humid. My 1996 CE coupe's A/C is colder than my 2005 F150. The blower fan is strong and loud on "high." I don't use the "auto" setting for the fan and I usually use the recirculate setting once the car starts to cool off. Maybe you need a new blower motor.

.....there was a past thread of which the poster showed his evaporator which was almost entirely clogged up with hair, oil, dirt, etc...he cleaned it up and now has the majority of his air VELOCITY back...also, different cars have different speed or rpm blowers in them....my 97 toyota has both a higher velocity and gets significantly colder them my 88 vette......

That's the condensor, the evaporator is inside the blower enclosure. I also, replaced the blower motor with no difference in air flow.

Check out this thread, lots of good info with pics of what a plugged evaporator looks like.

Here's another one that shows what it looks like clean.

......agree with all...forgot to mention that could be the blower missing fins, slipping on the shaft, or blower module....

I had low air flow and cleaned out the fan box. It was full of leaves that were choking off the air flow. It's easy to check.

Yep thats right I always forget which one is in the suitcase enclosure. Well I replaced my blower motor and it improved the air flow so who knows.

How bad is getting to the evaporater and blower motor? It looks pretty demanding, like I'd have to take apart a lot of stuff.

Also, if I do this myself, I know NOTHING about air conditioning systems. Is there any do's or don'ts I need to know? I mean, honestly, I had to go look up what a evaporater was to see what y'all were talking about.

Also, people talk about gases leaking, if I take apart my evaporator housing, is stuff going to leak out? Can I just take it apart and put stuff back together?

The blower motor is a one hour job. Real easy you need to loosen the bolts on the back end of the front wheelwell so you can pull the motor out with the squirrel case (fan) there are 5 or 6 small bolts that mate the fan unit to the firewall. You need to unplug the electrical connector and the drain tube. I bought a brand new Blower fan on Ebay NOS for $30. Try it first its a one hour fix and you already stated that the fan volume is the problem not the temp. GC

....you wouldn't take it out unless you needed to REPAIR the system (evaporator) and in doing so, you'll need to vacuum it down and recharge...
