Cockpit getting really hot.

My ac gave out on my 95 6-speed finally. But I can't fix it till Thursday. It's getting really hot in my car. Especially in the shifter area where it seem to be on fire. I removed the resonators.....could this be where the heat is coming from? If so....I got a Corsa coming in the mail, so hopfully that fixes my problem.

It won't help that area is close to the exhaust pipes and always gets warmer there. The engine and tranny give off heat too and it flows through that area also.

I understand that my engine and transmission generate heat. What I'm worried about is exess heat. My engine is running relatively cool and I would assume my gearbox is too or else it would've warped something by now. I never have a problem shifting and I just installed a new clutch. Could there be something missing in my console area that is causing this heat?
