Default What is this?

When I open the hood, down in the hole where the driver side headlight is there is a wire that looks like it should be hooked to something but it isnt? Any ideas? I will try and get a picture tonight.

Exactly my thought. Everything works! Just curious, extra parts are usually not a good thing

That's what I thought too! Both of mine are disconnected from previous owner - if you go to shows or work on the motor and have the hood up for a long time, the underhood lights will drain the battery.

I got a stray 2-wire weatherproof connector passenger side, all the way up front peekin' out from the twilight zone...

That wire is for the optional "boost" fan which mounts in front of the radiator.

Well I was unable to get a picture last night but it is not:
The under hood lights or the two wire connector shown in the picture above. Thinking it might be the diagnosis plug as suggested above.

If the car has RPO C68 Electronic Climate Control then the connector should have a sensor on it. If the car does not have C68 then the connector will still be there but won't have anything connected to it.

FWIW, the climate control temperature sensor on my 96 CE/LT4 is in front of the radiator on the passenger side...accessed from underneath the car...no where near the lights...

Judging by the connector's shape, color, and where it's spliced in, that is most definitely for the optional temperature sensor. The wires for the underhood lamps, on the other hand, are orange and black, and they are spliced in farther down the wiring harness.

Those two places are right next to each other actually, there's a little hole in the radiator shroud where you can poke the connector through either way.
