i have it but i think its a "bootleg" custom made one
because somehow ...it does not lock it !
i have the nice cushion it adds weight to the lid and it does not open
but i would lke to have it "locked" and press the button to open it.-
i will try to "adjust it"

That's how they are built. Lock it with the key.
Kind of cheesy I think for such an excellent sports car.

You can adjust the little clip so it catches the button latch. You may have to bend it some to make it engage the latch. Come to think of it, I'd like mine to latch with the button too.
Mine doesn't have a spring that pushes up on the lid. Where does the spring go? I see a small round hole by the key lock pawl up on top. Is that it?

First try adjusting position with the scew loose; if that doesn't work try removing the metal latch and bending it a tad.

Where does the spring go?
There is a spring inside the latch mechanism; if you press in on the button it should spring back into the "latched" position.

The OEM spring is a small leaf spring; after mine broke I "rigged" a very small coil spring from a tiny ball pen.

My lock is located on drivers side of console...locks with door key...had to make a new "L" latch though..mine kept bending..was easy fix though.

You can order the entire console lid spring and latch assembly from Mid America Motorworks (MAM). That's where I got mine.

Thanks, mine is intact and works fine. I thought you meant a spring to push the lid open and up a little.

Yours must be an earlier model where they used to have a third key just for the glove box/trunk cars.
