Default Removable Targa Top Question

Hello, I recently purchased a '94 C4. The glass top is dingy, and is not very transparent. I did a quick thread search, but could not find any useful information.

Does anyone know how to clean this top? Is there a good chemical cleaner I can purchase? The previous owner said he thinks the top was left out in the sun (I assume indoors by a window).

How transparent are these top when new? You can't really see through mine if you are looking from the top down, and if you are looking the other way you can only see outlines of object.

I'll post pics. if I have a chance. Thanks.

I just recently refinished mine, and have the link somewhere on the how toos, but I still need to do some finishing touches on that. Will search for the thread and get back to you asap. Once the oxidation takes effect, I believe this is the only way to correct it.

Hey laura, My Smoked glass removable roof was not tight when i bought it and glass has stress spider marks near the sides.
Hard to tell unless you really look but i know this is not good. I found one for 750. Your thoughts please.
The seal molding is good and does not leak.
And roof looks great. but shure this is a replace.

Are the spider marks surface, or in the top itself? And just FYI, for everyone to help you with future problems, would help if you filled out your profile!

It took some time, but lots less expensive then replacing the top!

It can be buffed with any fine scratch remover to shine it up. Spider cracks seen from the inside are pretty common and are not removeable. If you see "bubbles" on the outside that cannot be buffed out it is the laminate seperating also common. Worst case is wet sanding the laminate off and buffing with finishing compond it will look good but then need done more often.
