Default 84-90 Hood/Front End Differences?

I was reading a Corvette book last night that in "1988 the front end was changed to a less aggressive look". As far as I can tell, the front ends / hoods look the same from 84-90. What am I missing?

that's seems like a goofy statement by some guy who has never looked at a C4. The inner panels on the hoods from '85 through '89 are the same, but when they went to the lay down style rad in '90, the inner panels changed for clearance. From the outside...I have no idea what he is talking about

There are some changes in inner parts of front, wheel wells, hood latch pins and latches, etc. but I can't think of anything that you would see from outside of car!!

None...he's about three years off No difference to the body panels at all until 1991. Where is this book from? I have a couple of European car books that are way off about the Corvette also.

I'm sure they where confused with the front suspension that changed in 88 but like everyone else has said so far, there was no outwardly changes til 91 and that was of course the front and rear bumpers.

The book is at home - I'll check and post the name later tonight.

Exactly. When I first that "statement" in the book, I was like because I thought I was pretty observant and I've never noticed a difference.

Here's the book "Corvette The Shape of Performance". While yes, I realize the auto editors of Consumer Guide are perhaps not the most knowledgeable people on the subject, but the book does seem fairly accurate as far as pointing out the differences between years.

I realize the "245 hp" does not apply to all 1988's - so there is one error right there, but the "All Corvettes received gently tweaked front styling this year, resulting in a softer, less aggressive look" has me perplexed.

Anybody have any thoughts on this - other than the auto editors of Consumer Guide were on drugs when they wrote that......

Default 84-90 hoods

Only '84 hood has air-delivery to crossfire injector housing via hood interior panels which channels air to each side of housing and has rubber seals on air-exit of panels. This setup necessitated C4 trademark hood bulge for the CFI housing clearance. '85 and later didn't need the interior panel airchannels as crossfire was dropped but kept the hood bulge(I assume for asthetics and no retooling costs). exterior looks all the same.

It's true. In production models, the forward slope of the front facia was reduced 1.43 degrees to produce a slightly less agressive stance.

The replacement part numbers remained the same as the appearence is vertually identical.

Using a micrometer and protractor to measure the slope from the cones forward most protursion to the rear lip will verify these findings.
