How to remove breadbox?

Upper dash pad must be removed to gain access. There are 4 hold down brackets holding breadbox to dash. 3 Are easy to get to with 1/4 ratchet and extension. Each has a screw holding it down. One is a total pain in the azz because the screw head is at the bottom where you cannot reach it with anything. I guess it was pre assembled then installed by the factory. You need to turn it by the exposed threaded tip with some pliers or vise grips because there is no way to get a tool on the head of it. That or cut it.
The screw in the green circle is the one I am reffering to. Ignore the red circle. On your car the head of it will be hidden on the other side of the dash. Mine is shown flipped the correct way with an access hole cut on the side. This thing was a royal pain in the azz to unscrew.

Here's how I did mine.
If you have a hacksaw blade, then you don't need to remove the dashpad to remove the breadbox. Just remove the side panel that is to the right of the breadbox and then cut the metal brackets, that are held on by the screws that 86PACER told you to remove, and the breadbox will come right out. There are four metal brackets that hold the breadbox in place, you can't miss them. Once the breadbox is gone, you can remove the screws and then remove the remainder of the metal brackets.

Does your flat panel need to reuse the old brackets? If not, I suggest cutting that difficult one. It took me over an hour to get that bastard out only because I had to reuse my stock piece.

Here are your instructions. Apperently it's taped on, no brackets.

I used an angle piece of the bracket I sawed through and riveted the metal to the plastic flat panel instead of using the glue. It's pretty solid!
