Default 1988 console trim

does anyone know the procedure to disconnect the cigarette lighter housing in order to facilitate removal of the console trim plate on a 1988 with A/T? I'm trying to re-adjust the neutral start/back-up light switch.

You need to remove the instrument bezel, move right to the center where the radio and AC bezel is, remove that. Then you will be able to remove the console trim plate. just be careful as these plastic parts are fragile.

I have to loosen the IP bezel so I can move it enough to the left to remove the radio bezel for access to lift the console cover plate...

a wiseman once said, "If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, well it needed to be replaced anyway."
