Default Changing Wheel Size?

If I change the size of my rims on my 87, from 16X9.5 to 17X9.5 do I need to adjust the speedometer. I haven't seen this question posted since I have been on the forum. I'm sure it has but trying to make my winter shopping list.

I think if you go with a lower profile tire then you have now it will offset the bigger rim

No, the lower profile tires you normally see for that size rim arent going to throw off your speedo that much.

If memory serves me correctly, the tire for the '87 was a 255/50/16. When upgrading to 17" Wheels, change the tire to 275/40/17 to maintain almost the same tire height. This is what I did and I think the change in overall tire/wheel size changed insignificantly.

I made the same change on my 86. I have a Garmin GPS and the speedo reads the same as the GPS.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound like wheel change is that big of a deal. Todd
