I was wondering if you could install halogen lights in a 1988 corvette. I want and change out the front headlights and rear if possible. Any suggestions would be great.
then an HID conversion is what you're looking for
You can buy a set of LED Tailights for $ 200 on ebay
and HID Conversion for less than 100,for your headlights,im doing the foglight HID conversion
but i think i will be the first with this mod with a 84-90 nose

C4s came OEM with halogen headlights lights and about every other car since the mid '70's
I'm using GE Halogen on my 96 and I'm VERY happy with them.
Don't waste your money on an HID conversion, since there are no housing made for our cars with a longitudinal filament of an HID in mind.
If you want a lot of extra light, look into the Hella H4 housings and a nice set of bulbs.
Why wouldn't the Hella housings work with the HID H4 style bulb? I believe I've seen it done before and some forum members have done the conversion.
It will accept the bulb, but the light output will be scattered badly.
Normal filament bulbs the filament is horizontal to the car, and the housings and reflectors are designed for the way they throw light.
The HID bulb has a longitudinal filament (yes.. I know its not actually a filament) and throws light in nearly the complete opposite direction as a standard bulb, and standard housings and reflectors are not made to direct light coming from those angles.
Read this, yeah all of it. And watch the video where HID conversions have been made illegal in UK, Germany, and Hong Kong, where they scatter light to the point where it blinds other drivers, and provides less light on the roadway.
i get what you say now ...
so maybe there are some housings with reflectors specially made for our cars.-
Unfortunately no, there are a few ebay sellers who try to say different, but its all BS.
The Hella or Cibie H4 kit with an 85/80 bulb will bow most HID setups out of the water, and if you feel like upgrading some wiring and adding in a couple relays, you can go with a 130/100 bulb (although I wouldn't recommend it, as you would be giving oncoming drivers a tan)
