Hard to tell by the pics if its a real ZR1. On Zr1's its good to see a pic of the motor.
It seems like to me the ZR1 owners have taken a beating on the resale of these cars.

Corvette Dan. I think your vette looks better than that one anyways.

Oh I think it's a real Z...look at the picture of the backend. High brake light and the extra width on each side of the license plate.

The J in the VIN points to the LT5 motor and the 800996 makes it a fairly early car in the ZR-1 production run. The 8 in the sequence number definitely makes it a ZR-1.

Also the 1G1YZ vs 1G1YY. Sounds like the real deal.

The body clues are the spacers on either side of the license plate, the wider ZR-1 rear facia, the center stop light (ALL ZR-1s from 90 thru 95 had 'em), the deep recessed lug nuts, the wider door and fender pannels...I'd have to say it is at least a ZR-1 body. (See pix of mine - almost the same pose)

And...I ran the the VIN and the number is a legit ZR-1 number.

As far as a "beating" goes on price - what Corvette hasn't lately? I'm reminded of a '69 SS-396 Chevelle I sold in '74 (the first "gas crunch") for $500. That same car today is "worth" up around $70k in original condition.

I guess my point is, times being what they are, a lot of Vettes are being sold for cash at prices waaaaay below their value. NOW would be the time to grab a nice ZR-1, if ever there is going to be one! It might be like buying that old 69 Chevelle for $500!

By the way...when ya put the hammer down, the ZR-1s will take your breath away!!
