Default dumb coolant question

I recently changed the rad in my 95, I noticed it had the green stuff in it I know it calls for the orange coolant. I want to replace it with the proper coolant. If I put a water hose into the fill and leave the lower rad hose off will it flush out the block or I will I need to start it?.I really don't want the green coolant going into my new rad.

Why are you so adamant that orange DEXCOOL is so much better for your car than the "green stuff"? I've never heard of any problems with the green stuff but I have read, heard, and personally experienced DEXCOOL problems. Do you know about this ?? http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com...ettlement.html
I will never have DEXCOOL in any of my cars...EVER AGAIN!!

Just make sure you have all the Dex Cool out of the system. Mixing the two produces a mud like mixture over time that doesn't cool very well at all.
