I spent a good deal of time on this, Jim. I have an 88 vert, and looked at a lot of kits. I elected to go quality instead of cheap, and I'm very glad that I did. The cheapo ones really look like it very quickly. The top of the line ones in MidAmerica, (and some others) are manufacured by a company out in So California and look like the car came from the showroom with it. Pay the bucks and you'll feel like your interior is new.
Look at Kool88vette; I think that he got the same kit and you can get an idea of how it looks. Consider tossing the breadbox for a wood panel (usually included with the good kits). Changes the entire look of the car.

wood dash
I have the mid america kit on mine. Looks real nice. Love the flat panel. But now, looking back, I wish I would have just painted my dash pieces with automotive paint with my hvlp gun.
