hello all. new guy here. i too bought a corvette off of ebay. its a black 84 and i got it for 3,000.00. the adventure part is that the car was in philidelphia, 5 1/2 hours from my house in ohio. i figured the best , (ballsy) way is to drive there and drive the vette back. that and the truck i was going to use to trailer the vette got smashed the day before. the best part was driving the vette through the pocono mountains on a very clear afternoon. the car needs paint as someone painted it with a gun filled with sand it looks like. some minor repairs and investigating will be on tap for the winter but what an awesome car.this is my first of many corvettes to own. i am ready for any little problems that may occur since i am the former owner of 3 jaguars and have seen it all. thanks for the rant look foward to interacting with all, michael
Good luck with her. I just finished a restore on my 84 and while there were days I wanted to run away from it, the outcome is SO worth the headaches. I absolutly love my 84. Good luck!!!
If you haven't bought one yet, invest in a factory service manual. It takes alot of the guess work and second hand advise from the equation. I bought an original 1984 chevy corvette FSM from e-bay for $70.00. It has saved me thousands and hours of trouble shooting.

The FSM and these great folks on the Corvette Forum and all the other GM sites.
Surfing the internet before you start a project can save tons of time and money.
The internet can make a decent mechanic out of us mediocre ones.
There are plenty of good shops and mechanics around as well as parts changers and people who don't care about customers cars.
You can find references on here for your area but my Vettes are not primary transportation so I enjoy doing everything I can do myself.
Not everybody has a garage so for those who don't shop around for a friend who does.
I did something similar when picking up my Vette, also my first. Bought it here off the forum instead of eBay, but flew up there and drove 9 1/2 hours back. Great way to get to know the car
