I had bought a skip-shift plug for my Vette before from an online retailer here for $14, and I had seen pre-packaged connection plugs for $35 in a local auto store.
So when I saw one of these connectors advertised on E-Bay for $7 I bid on it for my Viper R/T, and won the bid for $15.50. :)
Here was the listing ad:
Cars equipped with the T-56 transmission (including the 1993-up Corvette, Camaro Z28 / SS, Firebird Trans Am, and Dodge Viper RT/10 or GTS) are equipped with the CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Selector) causing the cars to shift from 1st gear to 4th gear when at low RPM. This simple plug in device allows you to eliminate that annoying first-to-fourth shift in those vehicles. NO CUTTING OR SPLICING IS REQUIRED, AND IT CAN BE EASILY REMOVED AT ANY TIME. installation is simple and instructions are included. These are BRAND NEW and retail for upwards of $30. Shipping is $4.00 via priority mail in the US, shipping to Canada may be slightly higher. Money orders ship immediately, personal checks allow 7 days When the CAGS solenoid is connected, the ECM sees the effective resistance of the coil in the relay. When the connector is unplugged, the ECM will see an open circuit or infinite resistance, and sets a trouble code to warn of CAGS solenoid failure. This item will prevent that from occurring. Now the ECM will see the same coil resistance as it did when the wiring harness was connected to the CAGS solenoid. No codes will be set, and the CAGS lockout solenoid will cease to function. You will no longer be prevented from shifting into 2nd gear during conservative driving. Note: This device will not prevent the Skip Shift light from illuminating on the console/dashboard. After installation the light can be ignored. This device will not work for cars with automatic transmission. Thanks! Please email me at thatsbigmister@aol.com. Thank you and please check out my other auctions.

Today I got an envelope with a 2-paged xeroxed ls1.com article and a loose resistor enclosed.
This was not the waterproof bypass plug connector that every auto store sells for CAGS defeat, but a $0.50 resistor. :mad
I see other posts listed by someone with another name, but they're now admitting that it's just a resistor (bidding starting at $5).
I know $20 is not a bag of money to lose, but I wanted to warn prospective buyers to watch out for this scam.

T56 transmissions were not installed in any '93-up Corvette. Nor from '89-92 for that matter. The 6-speed in the Corvette is the ZF6. Different animal altogether.
How about just using electrical tape. My car had it disabled already when I bought it. I'm pretty sure that it's just unplugged, nothing more. The ends are probably wrapped in tape. I'll have to go take a look one day.
Well that sucks man, but it will work. That's how I've disabled 3 C.A.G.S. systems. The thing is you can buy a 5 pack of resistors at radio shack for $0.52 and you can buy tape for $1.
He didn't exactly lie about his product, he just didn't tell you everything there is to know about it. The only line that is actually questionable is this one
These are BRAND NEW and retail for upwards of $30.
Not true, THESE retail for $0.09, other products that do the same thing retail for $30.
Just be sure and leave him some serious negative feedback.
