Starter motor wiring help
I have a big problem that I can't resolve here and I am looking for some help. I recently took the engine and transmission out of my 86 coupe.
After putting them back in and beginning the re-assembly I have got to the point of installing the starter. Now my problem, I labeled everything as I unhooked things in preparation for removal of the engine. The only wires I have labeled for the starter are the two that go on the large stud on the solenoid. According to the electrical schematics in my reference manuals there should be three wires, the one from the iginition switch should be purple and fit on the small stud of the solenoid.
The purple ignition switch wire is unaccountted for, I can not find a single wire that isn't labeled or accounted for. I can't remember how the starter was wired when I took it apart so I can't say 100% that the wire was even there to begin with.
Does anyone know if the starter might have been wired in a different fashion then the manuals talk about? Does anyone have pictures of a started with the wiring installed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have search high and low and can not find that wire so I am at a loss.
Thanks again for your time and I am sorry about the long questions.
Dave
Mine is not even purple, because someone had replaced about 6 inches of it with a different color.
