Default Corvette C4 1987, HELP!!!

Hey to everyone on this excellent forum!

Its my first time posting on the forum, as I am interested in buying a Corvette C4 year 1987, and I wanted to ask one question regarding the exterior:

Are there any important changes on the exterior of the Vettes between the years 1986-7 and 1992 (except for the wheels)?????

If I buy a black Corvette C4 year 1987 and put similar wheels, will the overall apearence of the exterior of the Vette be the same as the black Vette in the first photo in http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...2115277&page=2

????? Thank you guys for the replies, I am just in love with the car in the first pic and I want my Vette to be similar to this one, that's why I am asking!

Hi and welcome !!!!!
You'll need a 91-96 model,if you like the bumpers
84-90 bumpers are different than 91-96
Another option is to get the 87 and swap bumpers, but
if you really want those bumpers, then get a 91-96

87: Old body style, round tail lights, squared off nose.
Old interior, "atari" dashboard.
Early wheel offset. The offset changed in 88.
L98 motor - 245hp vs. 300hp for a 92.

Do some research. An 87 is a cool car, but it's not so cool if you really wanted an 92 and up.

Decide which body style you want first. Either the rounded nose and tail (84-90) or the flatter version (91-96). The Z06 wheels (chrome or black IMHO) look good on both.

Thank for the replies so far, guys!

I look and look at pics of Vettes before and after year 1991, but cannot tell the differences in the exterior! Can you please post some pics of Vettes post-91 and after 91', to be able to spot the differences in bumpers and lights mentioned above, please ????

OK, I'll go for the 84-90. Look at the photo I just posted above. The front end is flat across where the lights are. In my photo below (before I changed wheels) you can see the rear is sort of flat with completely round inset taillights.

Now hopefully someone will post a pic or two of the 91 + front and rear which are much more rounded both front and back.

In 1990 the interior was upgraded. First year for the driver side airbag.

Exterior differences to note are with the front turn signal and marker lights, louvers, tail lights, and wheels. Not all that much difference.

One other thing to consider not related to it's exterior appearence is that from '92 on, they come with the opti spark distributor. It seems to give a lot of people problems. Not cheep and easy to repair.

Here are photos of my 87 with the 92 - 96 rear fascia and the 84 - 91 front end. However it has the thinner beltline mouldings in black which match the older look.

So as far as I can see, the main diferrences between post-91 and after 91 corvettes are in the front signal lights and the back lights, right guys?????

Due to tax reasons here in Greece where I am located, I would prefer a post-91 car, something like a black 85' or 86' vette. If I want to change the front bumpers and put the after 91' bumpers into this car, what will the conversion cost be????

Can you please post one or two pics of a shiny corvette years 84-87, black coloured, with C5 or C6 wheels????
