Default replacement shocks for bilsteins - ???

i'd like to replace the shocks on my 90. bilsteins are a little pricey for a set as compared to, say, KYB's. my 90 is a DD - don't race or auto-X it, so just looking for a good all around shock and the best bang for the buck. recommendations and comments - TIA -

I don't race, no autox. My car is a DD/toy. I'm very happy with KYBs.

I'm shopping for shocks as well. Ecklers is the best price I've found, so far. 300 for a set of Bilsteins and 189 for KYB. Can't see going any lower (in quality, not price) than KYBs.

Also looking for a good brake kit; rotors, pads, calipers for a 94 DD.

Summit racing: KYBs are about $130 shipped.

I was on a tight budget but I stuck with the bilsteins and am very happy with my decision. You drive a sports car, put proper shocks on her. Speed the extra $$. Got mine from vbandp.com for under $300.

You may be able to send your Bilstien's (sp?) back to the factory and have them rebuilt for a good deal less than new. I know they will do the job for the FX3s. Check it out and let us know what they say!

Revalve/repair the Bilsteins. Call Bilstein.

Bilsteins are worth the few extra dollars. I tried the others, went back to Bilsteins.

I really like my KYBs on my 88 Coupe ... of course someone had put Monroe's on it before and they were really bad.

I've had them on for about 8 months now. I don't race, mostly highway.

At $300, the extra $150 or so really isn't all that much.

Replaced my OEM Bilsteins with KYBs. Very happy.

The extra $150 isn't all that much, perhaps....although we all have different wallets.

For me the $ wasn't a concern, but I was looking for a bit easier ride as I don't race or AutoX either.

I'm told that NEW Bilsteins are STIFFER yet than OEM.

To get OEM ride you have to have your originals rebuilt by Bilstein.

Neither of these options fit well for me.

YMMV

I'm sensitive to that - after all, I used f-body front bearings instead of Corvette parts to save a couple hundred dollars and was not above using a chain store rebuilt starter.

If the ride is what one likes, that's one thing, but unless the $$$ adjustable shocks are in the mix, the cost differences isn't great enough to be much of a factor. When I was shopping, nobody had anything bad to say about Bilstein but opinions on other brands were mixed. It was worth a little more money to me to avoid experimenting. FWIW, I went stiffer on purpose and was pleased. No pun intended.

KYB's for me. I'm on a (tight) budget.

Anything would be better than what I had. When I took the first shock off, it came out in two pieces. The other 3 weren't much better.
