I have a 1993 vette and when I go to close the head light it makes a clicking sound for about 10 seconds.
This fellow told me that there were some bearings that could be replaced and that I did not have to buy an assembly.
Can someone please help me with this ?
the bushings need to be replaced, they are most likely just a bunch of powder. There are a couple of write ups on the forum. It's approx. a 2 - 2.5 hr job for first-timers. You can buy replacement bushings online or purchase some at lowe's/home depot.
I used bushings from the local True Value for a total cost of $1.20 for both headlight assemblies. Much cheaper than some of the specialty Corvette vendors. Lowes or Home Depot also have acceptable bushings.
My 93 did the same thing, clicking when opening and closing. Then got worse, next had to tap the headlight to get to open or close. Finally installed bushings from Mid America and new gears, however, turned out the old gears were still usable. I think they installed some kind of gel originally. Mine was all dust.
